Are CC Creams the Next Big Thing?

Gone are the days when Blemish Balm or BB Creams were obscure. Now they are within reach in different brands and in different forms. There's BB Stick, BB foundation, and even BB Powder. Blemish balm creams are also affordable nowadays. Glorious Skin's Gluta & Placenta BB cream is available at Watson's for only P169.

But BB Creams are old news now. From BB Cream now comes CC Cream. What is a CC Cream by the way? These Cs actually stand for "Color Correction" or "color control". It is described as a refined version of BB Creams created in Korea. I heard that CC Creams are perfect for Asian skin. As we know BB creams are originally created in Germany. So far, I haven't used CC creams but I'm interested to try one. Juice Beauty now comes with their very own version of CC Cream.

How I Came Up with my Baby's Name

One of the most exciting parts of being a parent is deciding for the child's name. A person's name is very important, not just for his identity but for important documents as well. The first time I learned I was pregnant, I immediately think of what to name my baby. Actually I really assumed of having a boy so I think of a boy's name first. That's when I thought a biblical name would be nice. So I came upon Nathaniel... Then hubby wants letter "J" as initial since his name starts with J. So I looked for biblical names starting with J. That's when I came up with "Jairus"

Jairus means "he will enlighten"

I was pleased with Jairus alone, but hubby wants a second name. So I thought, "JAIRUS NATHAN" would be alright. But Nathan is very common and Regine's son was known for Nathan...or Nate, which was the nickname I would like to give if my son was named Nathan. So we just considered another name. One day husband and I were talking about basketball and we mentioned Calvin Abueva and Kiefer Ravena. Since hubby was a varsity player and he's also a fan of basketball, we just decided to add Calvin or "Kiefer" to Jai's name. Obviously, I like Kiefer more than Calvin hehe

Kiefer really means forest dweller...and I even found out there's a glutton who's name was Kiefer. But we got this name from Ateneo's ace player Kiefer Ravena. And he also owns jersey number 15 which happens to be Jairus' birth date too. Coincidence?

Welcome to the World, Jairus Kiefer!

Hi! from Jairus Kiefer

I can't explain how happy I was the first time I saw my son. Here's my unforgettable labor and giving birth experience: It was 1am of January 15 when I started to feel contractions. The pain was not usual and it comes back every after ten minutes. There's also a spot of blood on my undies. I knew it was already time for me to bear my little Jairus. The pain was bearable just like LBM. Came 3am, it feels like the contractions felt twice as painful. I rushed to the bathroom and pooped. But came 4am, the contractions already felt like both dismenorrhea and LBM hitting me all at the same time. That's when I decided to go to the birthing home but the nurse said I was only 2cm at the moment.

Came 6am, I was already 4cm and we're just waiting for a couple of hours. Labor was awfully painful. I was hysterical and I felt like I wanted to die. Pass 7am, I was already at the birthing room and the midwife urges me to push harder. She asks me "Sige i-tae mo lang" and I was screaming while trying to push really hard. But she said I should not produce sound so I could produce more force. Woah. That's when I realize giving birth was truly a life and death experience. They even say, "nasa isang hukay ang paa". That's how challenging giving birth is. Finally, at 8:12 in the morning, my son already came out of my womb, with his tiny body still with blood. I was amazed seeing him for the first time.

I am thankful to God that Jairus is one healthy baby. I even prayed to Father Pio while I was pregnant. I prayed for a healthy baby boy and he answered my prayers. I can't be thankful enough for having such a beautiful son like him.

Money Matters: Applying for BPI Easy Savers Account

Is it possible to save in bank without a maintaining balance? Yes! BPI has this Easy Savers which  lets you save money with zero maintaining balance. I got mine last year for around P250.

The application only costs P200 but you have to pay P50 for the ATM card. It's easy to apply. Just go to BPI and present these:

-Two pieces of 1x1 or 2x2 ID pic
-Original and Photocopy of Billing Statement
(Your PLDT, Meralco, or Water Bill is okay)
-Two valid ID's
-Payment

I got mine after three banking days. Here's how the Easy Savers card looks like:

The only downside is that there's Php5 deduction every time you withdraw cash. But as long as you schedule when to get your money, that's no big deal. And it's a motivation for you to save because you'll not be tempted to withdraw every time. I can also view my balance thru BPI Express Online. That's convenient for me as a contractor at oDesk because I won't have to go out anymore and see if my money already arrived on my savings account.

My Favorite Films from 2012

The year we were waiting for--2012--just passed. No end of the world. In spite of the epic fail of predictions about the Mayan Apocalypse, I still find the movie 2012 a good one. But last year, as I was waiting for the end of the world, I made it a point to see great films before I die (wink).

See my very own list of Top 5 Movies from last year with their trailers:

Wanderlust

Wanderlust is on the top of my list. It's because I found the plot really interesting and there's a lot of morals we can get out of this film. It's a story of George and Linda, a couple who found a new breathe of life at Elysium which is an idyllic community. My favorite part was when the whole commune are doing the "Truth Circle".

Breaking Dawn Part 2

I admit I don't find all Twilight Series entertaining though I am a fan of the novel. I remember spending day and night reading those novels because I just borrow them from a friend and I had to give it back after a couple of days. Those were my teenybopper days when my imagination was jam-packed with romantic fantasies. Now I realize why there are so many haters of the movie adaptation. But I was surprised to see this finale minus the flings and cuddling between a human and an immortal. I'm happy there are less Edward and Bella moments which are boring but more of action and fights between the Cullens and the Volturis.
What to Expect When You're Expecting

It's easy for me to relate myself with this film as I am pregnant while watching it. As I can remember, I'm still on my first trimester when I watched this one. My fave part of the movie was when Wendy (played by Elizabeth Banks) rants on how hormones ravage her body. I remember her saying, "Pregnancy sucks. Making a human being is really hard. I have no control over my body or my emotions." She's right. It feels like a walking love when you are pregnant...but not all the time. Sometimes it's the other side of the story.

The Babymakers

This one's a comedy film that won't make you burst into laughter. I must say this is just more of a humor. But  this one is a feel-good film, just when you want to sit down, relax, and see an odd story. I said odd because it has a very unique story line. A man who had to steal his own sperm at the sperm bank because he can't get his wife pregnant? Hmmm...
Taken 2

I did not find this second installment as impressive as the first Taken movie. Yet, this one's more filled with action and fights. What I like about 2008's Taken is that there's more "thriller" concept presented.

What Do You Value?

Has someone asked you what are the things you value in life? Someone asked me this a while ago--it's Watson's. I was on FB when I saw their announcement of winner for their contest.
It's the Watson's More Value More Life contest.

For fun (and also for secretly wishing to really, really win this), I joined. The mechanics are simple. Upload a video or a photo showing what you value. Then share a bit about your entry. It can be your health, your spouse, your family, or your self. This question got me thinking. Honestly, I was so emotional yesterday that I told my hubby I just want to die NOW. Then here I am, thinking of what are the things I value. Ironic.

My goodness, if I were dead I wouldn't be able to join. As if I'll win.

But who knows! I guess this contest is still up 'til Feb. and there's no limit to number of entries. So I'll still be sending more entries for more chances of winning (evil laugh). I want to win P5,000 worth of GCs and other Watson goodies worth P1,000! If you want to join, just click here

What to Catch Up This Weekend (January 11-13)

Yay, it's Thursday! Tomorrow is another T.G.I.F. moms...
Here are things you and your family can look forward to this coming weekend.

Les Miserables now back to the silverscreen

Not really a fan of Victor Hugo but I guess this movie adaptation will rock since it's definitely star-studded. Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman, anyone? Well, with Amanda Seyfried, and Russel Crowe...Sure, please! Watch this trailer moms.

Aside from Les Miserables, Life of Pi is also now showing. More about faith and redemption. This one's available in 3D as well.

Then of course moms, who would not love shopping especially when it's sale? Holidays are over but you can still treat yourself for a mini shopping. Take advantage of MOA's end of season sale or Robinson's Dept. Store clearance sale.

SM Mall of Asia END OF SEASON sale (70% off on selected items)...

...and Robinsons Department Store clearance sale (also 70% off)

Hmmm. Hubby's about to come home and we're going to buy a bath tub for baby. Maybe we can go to Robinsons later since MOA is quite far from us. But well, yeah if you're not up for movies or shopping, there are other activities you can join into. Like a well-being retreat? Yeah why not? Sometimes it's nice to take a break from taking a stroll at the mall.

Ginhawa will be having a two-day retreat from January 12-13 at the Assumption Retreat House in Antipolo. If you are interested kindly email ishilta@yahoo.com :)

A Treat for Thy Feet: Caribbean Flip Flops

I was wandering at Save More a while ago when my eye catches this pair of floral slippers. I was really supposed to buy a new pair since my Ipanema slippers are already overused. Ipanema is a bit costly for  slippers so I guess I won't be buying from that brand anytime soon. But I super duper love the quality of those Brazilian flip flops. It just happened that I am broke. LOL.

But here's what I have for today.

Think of summer field! I love the girly, eye-candy design. This one is size 7 and it just costs P229.75. It's my first time to buy from Caribbean but I must say the brand is also a great find. My feet love this pair because they're really comfy. And it's perfect for my morning walks as I am heavily preggers right now! :)

Blistex Lip Tone Balm Review

Look what I found from the drug store today--Blistex Lip Tone! If you are after lip balms which complement the natural look of your lips, then this one might be the one you are looking for. Of course, I tried it on right away and I must say this one's worth the buy (only P80).

Based on the packaging, it helps relieve cracked or chapped lips, helps protect lips from the drying effects of wind and cold weather, and helps prevent sunburn. It's actually a lip protectant with SPF 15. However, when I applied it, it feels minty on my lips. Maybe it's because of the natural plant extracts on the ingredient.

Max size. I guess this lip balm and I will stay together for a long time.
Rating: 5 over 5
Will buy again? Maybe! Let's see.

My Preggy Food Jag: KitKat Wafer Fingers

If you were pregnant or currently pregnant, you might have experienced this weird thing "craving". I read from the Baby Center that these cravings women experience during pregnancy are related to hormonal changes. So blame your hormones the next time you'll ask for something sweet or something sour.

But more than just the hormone-related thingy, I also read from somewhere that cravings are linked to what your baby needs. Let's say, you suddenly get addicted to citrus...that means your baby might be needing more vitamin C. In my case, I find KitKat Milk Chocolate a great buddy during pregnancy. But this little creature inside of me don't just settle for anything sweet. He actually did not like Magnum Ice Creams. I threw up in the bus after eating my Magnum. That was an embarrassing experience.

How about you? How's your craving?
